Here you will find documents to assist you with contributing to our call for “Special Submissions”.  Part of the goal of the 2026 Compendium is to map each learning activity to published ANPT Essential Competencies.  A recent audit of all submissions revealed that there are a few Competencies that have little to no learning activities that support them.  In an attempt to correct this, we are issuing one additional call for special submissions, specific to the Competencies listed below:

Participation Domain

4. Advocate for unrestricted and/or adapted life roles and responsibilities and social access at the individual, community, and societal levels (e.g., home, workplace/school, and community)

Health Promotion and Wellness Domain

1. Identify and educate individuals and communities about primary prevention for neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neurodegenerative diseases.

3. Assess and address, with referral as indicated, the complex physical, cognitive, and mental health needs of patients/clients and/or care partners, applying evidence-based education and behavior change strategies for health promotion and wellness-related lifestyle changes.

Assistive Technology and Equipment Domain

1. Determine the need for ATE to address safety, movement dysfunction, and neuropathology, while considering the patient’s complexity and prognosis.

2. Evaluate, select, and justify through shared decision-making the ATE prescription that optimizes safety, positioning, alignment, and movement for activity and participation in life roles and responsibilities while accounting for: available resources; patient preferences, values, and goals; environmental context and barriers; and ATE vendor consultation

Provider Health and Wellness Domain

1. ‎Adapt patient management strategies, including response to common emergency situations, with consideration for the unique physical, cognitive, psychological, behavioral (e.g., combative, aggressive, inappropriate), and/or emotional patient/client needs while maximizing provider safety. This is inclusive of anticipating and utilizing PPE, proper body mechanics, support personnel, and ATE

2. Create an early-career professional development plan that cultivates the personal wellness (physical, emotional, and spiritual), self-efficacy, and resilience needed to thrive despite care demands including patients’ complexity, continuum of care longevity, progressive functional decline and/or end of life.

3. Create and optimize the therapeutic alliance between the patient and/or care partner and provider to establish and maintain appropriate professional and personal boundaries.

4. Professionally advocate and engage with the health care organization to promote a positive work environment

We realize that such activities may occur within a non-neurologic course within a curriculum.  However, we welcome submissions from such that could be easily framed within neurologic content.

The Submission Template should be downloaded and completed. The Submission Template Example will provide useful guidance as you draft your learning activity.

When you are ready to upload your materials, please click on the “Submit Contact Information” button.
