The EMBRACE Committee's mission is to increase awareness of socio-ecological factors within neurologic physical therapy practice that influence patient outcomes and professional development, and to elevate the importance of these contextual considerations within the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy (ANPT).
They create and maintain partnerships with other ANPT work groups with a goal of seeking feedback and providing recommendation regarding inclusivity with their activities, while also supporting and providing guidance to the APTA and state components of APTA to increase diversity within DPT and PTA education as well as residency and fellowship training programs for neurologic clinical specialists.
EMBRACE Definitions
Engagement - We connect all members of our neurology community through open, genuine dialogue so everyone’s perspectives and experiences help guide our work.
Mobility - We promote mobility for everyone, supporting the movement and participation of the patients we serve while also creating pathways for each member’s growth, advancement, and access within the profession.
Belonging - We cultivate spaces where every clinician, student, and community member feels welcomed, valued, and able to show up authentically.
Respect - We honor the variety of lived experiences, perspectives, and clinical approaches within our community. Respect is the foundation of how we learn from one another and how we care for those we serve.
