CSM 2006
The DDSIG programming at CSM 2006 held in San Diego this past Feburary was truly outstanding. A panel discussion on “Intervention Issues in Degenerative Disease: A Case-Based Approach” presented at the DDSIG Meeting on Friday afternoon was very well attended. Panel experts Bill Werner, PT, EdD, Peggy Ingels, PT, Sue Imbriglio, PT and Herb Karpatkin PT, MS, NCS discussed specific evidence-based interventions for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. Bill’s case presentation focused on interventions to improve gait and promote retention in people with Parkinson’s Disease. Peggy’s talk addressed interventions to alleviate painful adhesive capsulitis in individuals with ALS. Sue presented a case study of a patient with Huntington’s Disease with functional gains and decreased chorea following a physical therapy exercise program in conjunction with dietary interventions to alleviate weight loss. Herb discussed interventions to improve balance in individuals with multiple sclerosis. On Saturday afternoon, former DDSIG Chair Vanina Dal-Bello Haas, PT, PhD presented a very interesting and informative talk on “Cognitive Issues in Degenerative Disease” at the DDSIG round table that generated a lively discussion among participants.
Copies of the PowerPoint slides or outlines of each of these wonderful presentations are available below for review and download.
