Why Are You Running For This Position?

I am excited to be a candidate for Chair of the Stroke Interest Group (SIG). I have a passion for the PT profession and the patient population we serve. It will therefore be a privilege to continue feeding this passion possibly as Chair of the SIG. I will be bringing to this position over 19 yearsí of continuous service and leadership experiences in various capacities in PT professional organizations in Nigeria and Africa, first as a PT student and later as a PT. I have in the past (and even currently in various long-distance capacities) served these professional organizations; Nigerian Association of PT Students, Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy and WCPT - Africa Region. The privilege of serving in these organizations at the state, national and international levels while in my home country Nigeria and long-distance since coming to the United States in 2002 has enriched my service and leadership experiences. Further, I enjoy working with, meeting and networking with PT colleagues. I will therefore be bringing these previous leadership and service experiences to bear on the SIG Chair position if given the opportunity.

The Section would like to extend a special thanks to all of the partnering organizations that have joined in to make the organization an invaluable resource for information, tools, and support for the population we serve.
