Neurology Section Bylaws Change

The Section Executive Committee has proposed several changes to the Bylaws. These changes will come before the membership for a vote at the Section business meeting in February 2008. The most notable change is an increase of the size of the Executive Committee by three individuals: a Director of Research, a Director of Communication, and a Director of Education. The addition of these elected positions will essentially improve the Section's ability to meet the needs of members through targeted initiatives in these areas.

The Neurology Section membership recently passed a bylaws change in support of the creation of three new members of the Executive Board of Directors.

These positions are as follows:

Director of Education - Coordinate Section educational initiatives to include Combined Sections programming, regional programming and use of other media (including electronic) for educational purposes to PT, PTA, and student members.

Director of Communication - Coordinate Section communications efforts including the Section Web site, e-news, and membership/public relations. Serve as liaison to the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy.

Director of Research - Coordinate Section research initiatives including platform/poster abstract reviews for CSM, liaison with doctoral/post-doctoral students, APTA and Foundation for Physical Therapy. Assist with developing priorities for a Section research agenda

The three new Directors will serve as active voting members of the Neurology Section Board. Twice yearly travel for board meetings and participation in monthly conference call is required. These individuals will be appointed by the current Board for one year beginning in June 2008. The roles of the new Director positions will be refined in terms of scope and responsi
