Speical Interest Group: Nominating Committee
Duties and Responsibilities: SIG Nominating Committee
1. Committee Composition
a. Only those members as specified in the Section bylaws are eligible to serve on the Nominating Committee. (Need to be a member of the Neurology Section for 2 years before running)
b. The Nominating Committee shall consist of three (3) members. Each member shall serve for three (3) years.
c. One new member shall be elected each year.
d. Members are elected via ballot prior to Annual Conference.
e. The senior member of the committee shall serve as chair, unless otherwise designated by the Board of Directors.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
a. Prepares annually a slate of two (2) or more candidates for each open SIG office.
b. Coordinates with the Executive Office Nominating Committee chair election process.
c. Conducts elections by electronic and mail ballot in conjunction with the Executive Officer.
d. Chair attends the SIG meeting with the Vice President at CSM.
3. Procedures
a. Requests recommendations for nominees from incumbent officers and Section members in October and routinely checks database on neurology section website.
b. Determines eligibility of prospective candidates.
c. Contacts prospective candidates to obtain consent to serve.
d. Requests short biography from each candidate to be sent with consent to serve form to the Section Executive Officer (may be filled out from web and submitted).
e. Nominating Committee notifies winners of election and welcomes them.
