For Patients

Neurologic Physical Therapy (PT) helps improve your function if you have movement problems or pain caused by disease or injury of the nervous system

How does a neurologic physical therapist help you?

  • Examines you to determine what will improve your movement

  • Plans exercises to improve the movement needed for functions such as sitting, standing, walking, work, and sports

  • Suggests equipment to improve function such as braces (orthotics), walkers, and wheelchairs

  • Helps manage your pain as possible complement or alternative to surgery or pain medication

Your neurologic physical therapist will also help to promote health and wellness and improve your quality of life.

  • Works with you to help you understand your health condition

  • Helps motivate you during your physical therapy sessions

  • Teaches you how to understand your body and what you need to do to get long-term health benefits

  • Provides education to you, your family member and/or caregiver on how best to assist you.

  • Regular Physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your health. Physical Therapists and physical therapist assistants can help you safely get moving. Watch this video for ideas.
